Daphne, originally from the Venda region in South Africa, came to AIMS with a BA in mathematics. After being introduced to the sciences in her coursework, she changed her focus to experimental nuclear physics. She intends to get a PhD in the same field in order to help with South Africa's energy problems. Of equal importance she hopes to inspire other women and show that through hard work and perseverance, no dream is out of reach.
