Motörhead - Bomber I decided to make a little tribute to Rickenbacker Bass Guitars because in my opinion Rickenbacker has the best line of basses you can get your hands on. The bass is usually the driving force behind of Montreal's songs, yet few people appreciate the basslines Kevin Barnes comes up with. Here's one off their latest album: Skeletal Lamping. Of Montreal uses Rickenbacker basses live and on their albums to get that really nice, round plunky sound, so it's only fitting that I use the 4001C64 for this. You can tell it nails the sound on the album.

Marr played a Telecaster on the record. So for the sake of authenticity maybe I should do this all over again with my Telecaster. No, I can't be bothered. Also I think the Rickenbacker sounds nicer.

I wanted to give the old Rickenbacker some attention, so I felt it appropriate to learn a tune that originally used this fine instrument. More than that, it is "period correct", as Chris Squire played a similar model on the 1971 Yes studio album titled "The Yes Album", which this song originates. Other popular players of this particular bass include Geddy Lee (Rush), Paul McCartney, Cliff Burton (Metallica) and "Lemmy" Kilmister (Motorhead). This song was written as a message to returning Vietnam soldiers. The suggestion is...governments fight wars, not men and women - therefore "yours is no disgrace". Hope you enjoy that "Rickenbacker" twang! Peace.
